Global Leader with Local Expertise

EnerNOC is the pioneer of and global leader in demand side response (DSR), with deep expertise in the UK. Since2010, we’ve been helping businesses make money through participation in National Grid’s DSR programmes. DSR pays large energy consumers in exchange for their ability to be flexible and respond to electricity grid conditions.Participation in DSR can also help businesses simultaneously save money by avoiding expensive transmission and distribution charges.

EnerNOC currently offers numerous opportunities for businesses throughout Great Britain to participate in DSR. Our global and local experience allows us to create bespoke plans for your business that maximise potential earnings without disrupting operations.

Our offices in London, Leeds, and Dublin both directly support your DSR participation and provide you access to our globaldemand side response network.

The Capacity Market in the UK
The Capacity Market in the UK

The capacity market in the UK is designed to ensure that there is adequate capacity within the electricity system to meet demand throughout the year. Providers of capacity, including demand side resources, are paid for their annual commitment to reduce consumption when needed. These dispatches are designed to avoid potential blackouts, and as such, are only issued in extreme circumstances.

Customers that participate in the capacity market can still participate in other demand side response and demand management schemes, such as frequency response and Triad cost management.

EnerNOC - Frequency Response
Frequency Response

System frequency is a measure of the balance between energy generated and consumed—a constantly shifting number that must be managed and controlled at all times. To meet grid requirements, National Grid relies on DSR participants who can reduce usage or switch to back up generation in under two seconds using EnerNOC’s patented automated technology.

Frequency Response Service participants can also participate in other DSR programmes, as well as demand management activities (E.g. TRIADs).
