SAN FRANCISCO, CA ' EnerNOC, Inc. (NASDAQ: ENOC), a leading developer and provider of clean and intelligent power solutions, announced today that the company expanded its Clean Gen demand reduction program with San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) from 25 MW to 50 MW. SDG&E filed the new agreement with the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) earlier this month.
The ten-year Clean Gen program provides SDG&E with demand reduction resources by employing cleaner, permitted backup generation during grid emergencies or periods of system stress. EnerNOC installs particulate matter (PM) filters in its network of backup generators that participate in the Clean Gen program. The PM filters are designed to absorb 85% or more of diesel emissions. To ensure reliable generator performance and real-time demand reductions for SDG&E, EnerNOC performs, at its own expense, generator maintenance, including upgrades, retrofits, and routine tests, for commercial, institutional, and industrial SDG&E customers.
SDG&E President and Chief Executive Officer Debbie Reed states, 'This contract is another step in meeting the growing energy needs of our region through a combination of resources, including energy efficiency and demand response technologies.'
EnerNOC Chief Executive Officer Tim Healy appreciates the program's many benefits. 'EnerNOC is firmly committed to environmental stewardship, and the Clean Gen program provides SDG&E with real-time demand reductions without compromising the environment. We are excited to extend our partnership with an environmentally-conscious utility like SDG&E.'
The SDG&E agreement is subject to approval by the California Public Utilities Commission.
