EfficiencySMART Commissioning:
The full facility tune-up

Whether commissioning a new building or tuning an existing one, EfficiencySMART Commissioning services ensure that buildings are running at maximum efficiency. Our energy engineers conduct thorough site reviews, identify major sources of energy consumption, and deliver detailed analysis of systems and equipment performance. Payback on commissioning of new and existing buildings is typically fewer than 18 months, with utility incentives driving payback periods down to 12 months or sooner.

EfficiencySMART Retro-Commissioning (RCx) projects typically include five phases:

  • Phase I: Planning.
RCx engagements start with a project kick-off meeting, initial site survey, and the development of the measurement and verification plan.
  • Phase II: Pre-investigation.
Our team will set up sample trends and start collecting sample data to assess data quality.
  • Phase III: Investigation.
In Phase III, we will establish the energy baseline of the building, as defined in the M&V plan delivered in Phase I, conduct pre-functional and functional tests, and being to populate our RCx Findings Log with potential improvements discovered during Phase III. We then review these findings with our customer.
  • Phase IV: Implementation.
Working in collaboration with our customer, we will begin to select which energy efficiency measures should be implemented. Once complete, EnerNOC will perform a final review of the trend data to ensure that all systems are operating properly.
  • Phase V: Hand-off.
During Phase V, EnerNOC will deliver a complete Systems Manual, which contains all of the pertinent documents developed during the RCx project.

For many EnerNOC customers RCx is just the beginning. In order to ensure that the significant savings identified throughout the project don't erode over time, many organizations choose to implement a monitoring-based commissioning (MBCx) solution. EnerNOC's EfficiencySMART Insight application provides exactly that functionality, plus an enhanced feature and service set to ensure that our customers achieve continuous energy savings year after year.

Buildings are comprised of complex mechanical systems, and their performance naturally degrades over time. EnerNOC's EfficiencySMART Commissioning restores optimal performance, while EfficiencySMART Insight monitors and maintains performance into the future.
