Company Hits Home Run in First Ever ISO-NE Test
On Friday, August 20th, ISO-New England ran its first full-scale
Demand Response Program test. The surprise test was conducted
to verify that demand response providers can deliver their
committed capacity. Preliminary results are now in, showing
that EnerNOC over performed, delivering even more capacity
than it committed to ISO New England's various programs.
Fire Up Those Generators
As shown by the graph, EnerNOC's generator customers delivered
in a big way. Pictured is the load profile of a large blue-chip
company's mission-critical data center. In a snap, EnerNOC
helped this customer remove nearly eight megawatts (MW) of
power demand from the grid by firing up its backup generation
resources.

In this image, the blue line represents the customer's load
during the event day, and the red line represents the customer's
baseline load (as calculated from its historical consumption
data). As shown in the image, the customer's draw on the grid
dropped precipitously during the event window, which lasted
from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Adjust the Air Conditioning
While EnerNOC provided capacity by firing up some customers'
backup generation resources, EnerNOC helped many other customers
participate by dimming lights, adjusting thermostats, and
taking other load shedding measures.
This graph represents a facility owned by a municipal customer.
The substantial amount of "negawatts" from this site were
achieved by turning off unnecessary lighting and adjusting
thermostats.
EnerNOC Technology Reaches Another Milestone
Once again, EnerNOC technology did its thing. Just 15 minutes
into the notification period, EnerNOC had delivered more than
100% of its committed capacity to ISO-New England and maintained
this level of response throughout the entire event.
During this event, EnerNOC's monitoring capabilities really
made a difference. Customers were able to watch their performance
in real time as the event unfolded. In some cases, this allowed
customers to earn even more financial reward than they had
expected.
