Greetings!
The first quarter of 2004 was a blast for EnerNOC. The highlights
included winning a multi-million dollar, multi-year contract
with ISO New England, Inc., signing sales and service agreements
with several new large customers in New York and New England,
and adding more talented people to the EnerNOC team.
EnerNOC Wins ISO New England Contract
We
are most excited to announce that we won a multi-million dollar
contract from ISO New England, Inc. to provide emergency demand
response capability in Southwest Connecticut over the next
four years, with an option for a fifth year. With this contract
in hand, we are now able to provide companies, municipalities,
and institutions located within the 54 cities and towns of
Southwest Connecticut (from Meriden to Greenwich) even more
money for being an EnerNOC customer.
If you know anyone who works at an organization that consumes
energy in this area, have them contact us. We are in a position
to help them discover substantial new revenue streams.
New
Customer Spotlight: Pathmark Stores
This past month, EnerNOC signed an agreement with Pathmark
Stores, Inc., which owns and operates 144 supermarkets in
New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Under the initial
phase of this contract, EnerNOC will provide energy data and
demand response services to 30 supermarkets across New York
City and Westchester County.
Approximately 50% of the overall demand response capacity
that EnerNOC will enable at each Pathmark supermarket will
be achieved through remotely controlled lighting cutbacks
implemented by operators at EnerNOC's Network Operations Center
in Boston.
Pathmark joins longtime client Hannaford Brothers Co. as
EnerNOC's second retail/grocery chain customer, which promises
to be a very important and lucrative vertical for us.
EnerNOC Approved for Operation by NYISO
EnerNOC
was approved by the New York Independent System Operator (NYISO)
as a Responsible Interface Party for demand response aggregation
and for participation in New York's wholesale capacity market.
This is a significant step forward, as it opens a sizeable
new geographic market for the company. The Pathmark sale is
an early beneficiary of EnerNOC's new status in New York.
EnerNOC's Customer Base Grows
In
addition to Pathmark (see sidebar), other customers signed
in the first quarter include the City of Lowell, Massachusetts
Regional Wastewater Utility and the Millennium Bostonian hotel,
which is owned by Millennium Hotels and Resorts.
Staffing Updates
During the past quarter, EnerNOC followed through on its
staffing goals as outlined in the last quarterly update, hiring
a senior software engineer with 10 years of development experience
out of MIT, and an experienced project manager to coordinate
and continue to enhance our customer deployment process.
The expanded EnerNOC team, now 20 strong, has positioned
the company for accelerated growth in the months ahead.
Recent Accolades
EnerNOC was nominated for a 2004 New England Innovation Award
granted by the Small Business Association of New England (SBANE).
The company was put forward by leading Boston-based law firm
Mintz, Levin. Past winners of this prestigious award include
Staples, Genzyme Corporation, and Zipcar.
